About Wendy

Wendy Franz is a Canadian artist residing in Castlegar, British Columbia. She is known for her Wildlife paintings, often portraying the animals native to her area.

Working primarily in acrylics with an adoration for wildlife and nature, she loves to create works that capture the beauty of the world around her. Growing up in the Kootenay’s Wendy has a great appreciation of the wildlife and landscapes known to this beautiful region.

Working for many years as a profession graphic artist, Wendy has always had a passion for art and design and now dedicates her life to her artwork. When she isn’t busy painting you may find her teaching paint nights in the local area.

As a self taught artist, Wendy loves to experiment utilizing other mediums, loving the process of learning. Some of her work utilizes a combination of mixed media and acrylic to create layered and textured surfaces. She also loves to integrate acrylic pours into her paintings to achieve visual interest within the backgrounds of many of her works. Through the years she was worked with many different mediums with her creations ranging from realism to abstract.

Other work that Wendy creates include polymer clay crystal pendants and mushroom wreaths, and new this year, hand painted hats. You can find her work on display in local galleries, local artisan fairs and she is part of Castlegar Art Walk.

Wendy’s unique style and imagination has helped her stand out, making it possible to sell her work abroad. Her work can be found as far away as South Africa, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
